Conversion Tracking
Implement robust conversion tracking for Lead Generation (Quotes, Contact Forms) and E-commerce. We recommend the 'Thank You Page' method for highest reliability.
Prerequisites
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
- Google Tag Manager (Recommended)
- Admin access to WordPress
Thank You Page (Reliable)
Redirect users to a unique URL after form submission. This is the most accurate method effectively preventing duplicate counting.
1. Create the Page
Create a new Page in WordPress titled 'Thank You'.
Slug: /thank-you/ or /quote-received/.
Add content: 'Thanks for your request. We will be in touch shortly.'
Set this page to noindex so organic traffic doesn't skew data.
2. Configure Redirects (By Plugin)
Gravity Forms: Settings > Confirmations > Default Confirmation > Change 'Confirmation Type' to 'Redirect' > Select your Thank You page.
WPForms: Settings > Confirmations > Change 'Confirmation Type' to 'Go to URL (Redirect)' > Enter URL.
Contact Form 7: Requires 'Redirection for Contact Form 7' add-on plugin. Install it, then go to Form Settings > Redirect Settings.
Elementor Forms: Click Form Widget > 'Actions After Submit' > Add 'Redirect' > Open 'Redirect' tab > Paste URL.
3. Configure GA4
Go to GA4 Admin > Events > Create Event.
Custom Event Name: generate_lead
Matching Conditions: page_location contains /thank-you/
Mark this event as a Key Event (Conversion) in the Admin panel.
